Editorial Policy

Last updated: sample date — replace on launch · Reviewed every 6 months (sample cadence).

Tenant Coffee follows a research-first method. Every published claim is traceable to a source the reader could open; every limit is named on the page itself, not hidden in a footnote.

How an article gets written

  1. Reader question. Every article starts with a question a real reader would actually ask. The article's job is to answer that question, not to promote a product.
  2. Source packet. Before drafting, we assemble a packet containing the question, our viewpoint, 2–3 official sources (with URLs and the date checked), verifiable product details, hands-on limits, the desired reader outcome, and a list of things we will not do for this page.
  3. Draft from the packet only. If a claim is not in the packet, it is either removed or re-sourced. The draft is verified against the packet before it ships.
  4. Disclosure placed. A plain-language disclosure sits immediately before or beside the first affiliate recommendation on the page, in line with FTC guidance and the affiliate program's terms.
  5. Review and date. The article is reviewed, dated, and the source-check date is added to the article footer.

What we will not claim

  • We will not claim hands-on testing we have not done. If we have not used a product ourselves, the article says so.
  • We will not invent quotes, ratings, or testimonials.
  • We will not publish income predictions as fact. Any projections are labeled as assumptions.
  • We will not use manufactured urgency, fake scarcity, or fake regret stories.
  • We will not answer questions that need expert, legal, or medical credentials; those are handed to a qualified professional.

Affiliate programs and terms

Affiliate program terms are time-sensitive. We re-check the official program page on a fixed schedule and update articles whose terms or disclosures change. The date we last checked each program is recorded on this page.

Program / network Type Last terms check
Amazon Associates Marketplace Sample date — replace with the day you re-read the official terms
Specialty roaster / equipment affiliate program (name varies) Niche coffee program Sample date — verify current terms on the program's official page
Coffee subscription affiliate program (name varies) Subscription program Sample date — verify current terms on the program's official page

Where a program requires disclosure of its own, the required wording is added next to the plain sentence on the relevant page — not instead of it. The site-wide affiliate disclosure is on the disclosure page.

How and when articles are updated

Trigger Action Window
Price or availability change Update article, re-check source Within 7 days (sample window)
Affiliate program terms change Update disclosure and policy Within 14 days (sample window)
Reader correction received Investigate, correct or respond publicly Within 7 days (sample window)
Routine freshness check Re-verify all sources on the article Every 6 months (sample cadence)

Every article shows a “Published” and “Updated” date, plus a “Sources verified” date. The dates are the receipt for the work above, not a stylistic flourish.

Sourcing rules

  • Official manufacturer or program pages are the primary source for product and program facts.
  • Independent reviews are used as cross-checks, not as the single source for a claim.
  • User-generated content (forum posts, reviews) is not used as a sole source for a factual claim.
  • Any claim with a number behind it carries the source URL inline or in a footnote.

Corrections and complaints

We take corrections seriously. If you spot a factual error, an outdated price, or a missing limit, please use the contact details on the about page. Include the page URL and, where possible, the source you are cross-checking against.

Material corrections are noted in the article's review history and the “Updated” date is changed.

What this page is not

This editorial policy is the site's own ruleset. It is not legal, tax, financial, or platform-policy advice. Affiliate program rules and FTC expectations change; where this page and an official source disagree, the official source wins, and we update this page.
